GEOTECHNICAL/GEO-ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER: fantastic opportunity at a successful and innovative SME Multidisciplinary Consultancy. This role is based in Leeds.

Overview
Our client is a dynamic and forward-thinking, Leeds based Site Investigation department within a Multidisciplinary Consultancy who pride themselves on their core values of consistently high standards, exceeding expectations, being adaptably customer focused, while continually investing in professional development alongside the diversification of their skills.
The Leeds department also takes pride in their collaborative approach, working closely with structural consultants and other specialists to achieve the best outcomes for clients, and they are now seeking a motivated and skilled Geotechnical/Geo-environmental Engineer to join their small, dedicated team.
This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact within the company, allowing you to shape the direction of their geotechnical and geo-environmental services. You will be involved in a variety of projects, providing technical expertise, and ensuring high standards of site investigation and analysis. The role also involves regular travel across the UK with a roughly 60% office 40% site and an estimated 6-10 weeks per year staying away (all accommodation and subsistence covered by company).
Key Responsibilities

Carrying out Desk Study (Phase 1) Reports

Preparation of Health & Safety documents (RAMS and Construction Phase Plan) for ground investigation work

Supervision of fieldwork activities including logging of soil & rock in accordance with BS 5930
-
Writing up exploratory hole logs using SoilCloud software
-
Gas & groundwater monitoring
-
Drafting laboratory schedules for geotechnical and chemical analysis
-
Writing Ground Appraisal Reports (Phase 2)

Writing Coal Mining Risk Assessments
-
Site visits during remediation and earthworks phase
-
Assisting the Structural team with temporary works designs such as piling platforms
Ongoing Leaning and Development
-
Gaining a deeper understanding of key guidance documents (LCRM, British Standards, NHBC, CIRIA, etc.)

Development of client-facing roles, such as tendering, dealing with queries, and understanding clients’ needs
-
Liaison with regulators (Local Planning Authority, Environment Agency, Warranty Providers, etc.)

Bearing capacity and settlement assessment

Preliminary pile design
Requirements
-
Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Geo-environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field

1 year minimum relevant industry background

Relevant professional experience in geotechnical and geo-environmental engineering

Strong knowledge of site investigation techniques and geotechnical analysis

Proficiency with geotechnical software
-
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
-
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

CSCS certified
-
CAT & Genny trained
-
Full UK driver’s licence (essential). Option to use own car with higher mileage rate or use of work van
