Senior / Geotechnical / Geo-environmental Engineer: Ideal opportunity for the next step in your career at successful SME Ground Investigation Company. This opening for a Senior or Engineer level Geotechnical/Geoenvironmental Engineer can be based in either Chester, Manchester or Warrington.

Overview

Our client is an Environmental Consultancy within a larger group of consulting engineers offering a variety of engineering solutions to the construction industry.
 
They specialise in identifying, quantifying, and reducing abnormal costs to developments at an early stage and provide effective holistic solutions for a range of geotechnical, environmental, and waste management issues for both commercial and private clients.
 
Based in the Chester, Manchester or Warrington office, this opening for a Senior or Engineer level Geotechincal/Geoenvironmental Engineer is 50 - 60% site based and ideal if you are looking to take the next step in your career.
 
 

Responsibilities

  • Writing of Phase 1 and Phase 2 reports
  • Design, set up and management of site investigations, including logging of soil
  • Management of site based sub-contractors
  • Recording and interpretation of site data
  • Scheduling of chemical and geotechnical testing
  • DQRAs
  • Preparation of generic and site-specific health and safety risk assessments
  • Role will involve both client and regulator liaison
 

Requirements

  • Relevant degree
  • A relevant Master’s degree either within Geological or Environmental Science disciplines may be beneficial
  • Minimum 2 years' relevant post-graduate industry background
  • Membership of a professional organisation such as the Geological Society or CIWEM
  • Ideally working towards Chartered Status
  • Be able to demonstrate a proven track record relating to the management and reporting of contaminated land, geotechnical and civil engineering site investigations
  • Strong communication and report writing skills will be required
  • Knowledge and/or experience of remediation and verification work will also be beneficial
  • Ideally have experience with the use of borehole software such as HoleBase/AGS
  • Excellent MS Word and Excel skills, as well as a basic knowledge of CAD
  • Full driving licence
